One of My All-Time Favorite PC Cards ❤️
This 1959 Fleer #70 featuring Ted Williams and Jim Thorpe was one of the very first cards that sparked the creation of my personal collection — along with two other Ted Williams cards I picked up at the same time.
Ted Williams is widely regarded as one of the greatest hitters in baseball history — a .344 career average, two Triple Crowns, and a true legend of the game. Jim Thorpe, on the other hand, was one of the most incredible athletes America has ever produced — an Olympic gold medalist, NFL pioneer, and a member of the Oklahoma Sac and Fox Nation.
Having both icons on the same card feels like a perfect intersection of baseball greatness and Oklahoma sports history. It’s old, worn, and full of character, but that only makes me love it more.
Some cards just speak to you and set you on a whole new journey. This one definitely did that for me.
